What is your
Soul Saying?

Whether it just a stop for the night on your Camino journey or a few days rest, LaCala Pilgrims Inn is the place to relax and reset.

Come In,
Rest a while...

Hospitalera Tanya Valdes is ready to welcome tired pilgrims to her oasis of light and warmth. With comfortable beds and peaceful surroundings. LaCala Pilgrims Inn is ready to restore your soul.

Just steps from the Camino Portuguese is LaCala Pilgrims Inn. LaCala means “The Cove” in Gallego, the language of Ancient Galicia, and the rooms offer spectacular views of La Cala de Redondilino (little round cove) and the nearby Real Mosteiro de Oia.

The Village of Santa Maria de Oia (population 3,000) sits directly on the Camino Portuguese coastal route 150 kms from Santiago, a quaint fishing village nestled between the mountains and the ocean.

Oia has been inhabited since the Iron Age (1200 BC) and possibly as far back as the Bronze Age (3000 BC). The ruins of several Celtic settlements have also been found nearby but due to lack of funding, have yet to be fully excavated and dated.

Today, its position on the wild Atlantic coast makes Santa Maria de Oia popular with surfers, kite surfers, and most importantly, is one of the stopping places along the Camino Portuguese Coastal Route.

"Excellent private Albergue expertly run by American owner Tanya, who is well known in the pilgrim community & knows the Portuguese Coastal Way well. The accommodation is new, tastefully decorated & finished to a high standard with fixtures/fittings above those of most standard Albergues. The location is excellent in the centre of the picturesque fishing village of Oia."

THIS IS MY 4th PILGRIMAGE But there's one word I'll have to leave here... repeatedly... GRATID ÃOO, to Tanya Valdes, who welcomed me with great affection, & knew how to receive PEREGRINOS, owner of the best private hostel I've been, you know that most Portuguese people need a good breakfast in the morning!! You know the value of silence! In Oia: and I tell you, STOP MANDATORY IN THIS VILA, for the magnificent sunset that makes us feel even more grateful for another day, for the thoughtful people, the Monastery, architecture and eat WELL!!! Thank you Tanya!

"A wonderful place to stay and the host, Tanya is a true blessing! The place is in the middle of a lovely village, overlooking an old monastery! It’s spotless, very cosy and quiet, all you hear is the ocean waves! Buen Camino!"

"Doing the Portuguese Coastal and stopping in La Cala was one of the highest points of my last one. The views to the monastery, two restaurants and a cafe and supermarket just around the corner made me stay for two nights. Tanyas welcoming, the beauty and detail of everything and a great shower, brought me to life. Five stars is kinda short."

The Camino provides

I had no idea when starting out on my solo pilgrimage how many dear friends I would make.

No tenía idea al comenzar mi peregrinaje solitario cuántos amigos queridos haría.

what's your soul saying?

We must never stop dreaming. Dreams provide nourishment for the soul, just as a meal does for the body.
